Release 1.4 - Towards a new Aethasia
Firstly, you may be wondering where releases 1.2 and 1.3 went! Well, we rolled them all up into a big bundle we have called 1.4 – 'Towards a new Aethasia.'
This release is SO packed full of new things that we don’t really know where to start!
The first big change is that we now require all users who are younger than 13 to provide parental consent to play The Aetherlight. When you log in after October the 1st, you will be presented with a pop-up that asks you to send a verification email. Choose yes, and this will be emailed to whatever email address you signed up with. You have 7 days to verify your account, after which time your account will be disabled. If this email doesn’t ever arrive, please email us at support@theaetherlight.com and we will get that sorted out for you. Also, until you have verified your account, you cannot chat – so make sure you do the verification step ASAP.
Now, on to changes within the game:
Firstly, we’ve added some enhancements to battle. We’ve tweaked the balance for the weapons and the automatons, as well as adding a few extra fun touches that we hope you enjoy. There are now also new weapons and new automatons. Let us know what you think of the changes!
Next, we’ve added in some features around keeping our players safe. We now have a player safety guide and the ability to report another user in game who might be making you uncomfortable. To do this, just right click on them – from this menu you can choose to ignore them (you won’t see their chat) or you can report them to a moderator who will review the report and take appropriate action.
One of the most common complaints that we have heard from our testers is that they really don’t know what is going on in the world – whether it’s to do with the world, the story, the characters, or the gameplay. And we agree, there was a large gap here! So we’ve made some extensive changes to help fix this issue. We’ve rebuilt a large part of the quest line, and added in a few more quests for your enjoyment. Rebuilding the quest line was part of the reason we needed to reset your accounts (read more about that here). The new quest line is a HUGE improvement, and we think it really helps to explain the world and story of Aethasia so much more than previously. We’ve also tightened up some gameplay elements to make the world a bit more intuitive and reduce the confusion level!
Another cool feature is that we’ve completely overhauled the Resistance Academy, and introduced a few new things along the way. But no spoilers here, you’ll just have to play to find out.
Lastly, we’ve been doing a lot of art polishes – so keep an eye out for some better atmosphere, brighter textures, and even an updated user interface! We’d love to know how you feel about the world of Aethasia after playing this version, especially compared to the last version.
